Our Background & History

Injibara Health Science and Business College was established in 2011 E.C at Injibara by two visionary scholars, Dr. Abebaw Bitew and Dr. Ayana Simachew, with a deep commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and producing highly competent graduates for Ethiopia. The founders envisioned an institution that would not only meet national human resource needs but also advance innovation, academic excellence, and community-centered development.

As Injibara evolves into a model of sustainable urban development, the establishment of Injibara Health Science and Business College has significantly strengthened the town’s educational landscape. Since its commencement, the College has been entrusted with the national responsibility of delivering excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community service. Recognizing the rapidly changing landscape of higher education at both national and global levels, the institution is committed to continuous transformation to remain competitive, relevant, and impactful.

To achieve this, the College has launched a comprehensive reform initiative focused on enhancing its core and support processes. This transformation is mainly secured in principles of quality assurance, academic excellence, innovation, and service delivery aligned with international standards.

Legally registered and accredited by both regional and federal training authorities, Injibara Health Science and Business College operates as a well-organized, reputable private higher education institution in Injibara City. The College began operations in 2011 E.C. through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, initially offering fields such as Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Database Administration, Hardware and Accounting and Finance. In response to the growing national demand for higher education, the College upgraded to undergraduate-level programs in 2012 E.C., introducing degree studies in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance, and Management through both regular and distance modalities.

Today, Injibara Health Science and Business College stands among the leading private institutions in the region, actively supporting the development priorities of the Government of Ethiopia and contributing significantly to national capacity-building efforts. Strategically located 450 km from Addis Ababa and 115 km from Bahir Dar, the College provides accessible, high-quality education to thousands of learners.

Over the years, the administration has expanded the academic portfolio to include six undergraduate departments and seven TVET departments, producing a large number of professionals who now serve in various institutions across the country. These graduates are making meaningful contributions to Ethiopia’s socioeconomic transformation.
